Chest Lift, Drop, and Accent (Part 1: Rib Cage Isolations, Backbends, and Sways Movement Breakdowns)

In this introductory segment, we begin to unlock strength and range in the lower half of the ribcage—the foundation of engaged and sinuous upper-body isolations. Coordinating breath and movement, we define trajectories and mechanics for ribcage lifts to the front diagonal and straight up, and also apply this lifting technique to an articulation that draws the ribcage straight forward. Next, we build accented drops, creating a clean isolated contraction by centering our movement in the solar plexus rather than the sternum. Finally, we look at chest “pops,” and why you might prefer to avoid them.
